The Barcelo Maya resort complex in the Riviera Maya south of Cancun is a beautiful location, comprised of six resorts along a white sandy beach. From south to north, the layout of the property is: Riviera Maya Resort, Barcelo Maya Beach, Barcelo Maya Caribe, then the center of the resort where the mall and activities area are, then the Barcelo Maya Colonial, the Tropical, and lastly, the Barcelo Maya Palace Resort.
Beach, Caribe, Colonial, Tropical
The four moderate properties are: the Barcelo Maya Beach, Caribe, Colonial, and Tropical Resorts. You stay at one and play at all four. If you want a quiet resort, the Beach is usually the quietest. The Beach and Caribe properties have one a la carte restaurant each plus the buffet. Beach and Caribe also have sandier beaches with nice ocean floors.
The Caribe & Tropical Resorts have two a la carte restaurants each, plus a buffet. Their beaches have more coral (think snorkeling!). The pool at the Tropical is the largest party area.
Premium upgrades
Premium level upgrade includes personalized check in, concierge service, the best views, VIP minibar, superior toiletries & turn down service, priority reservations at restaurants, a Premium Level Lounge, included room service, 20% discount in spa & beauty salon services, and 10% discount on Barcelo gift shops.
Barceló Maya Riviera - Adults Only
The Barcelo Maya Riviera is the complex’s only adults-only property. It boats unlimited dining at 4 specialty restaurants (French, Italian, Japanese (Teppanyaki and Sushi bar), and a grill steak house), plus access to another 6 buffets and 16 bars across the Maya Grand Resort. Rooms are all oceanfront suites with hot tubs on the balcony and huge king-size beds. They offer full access to all of the other Barcelo properties and amenities.
Barceló Maya Palace
The Palace is a family-friendly luxury resort with three exquisite à la carte restaurants: French, Brazilian, and Caribbean seafood, plus a buffet. They also include access to 6 additional buffets and 12 more bars within the Maya Grand Resort. The Palace has three enormous pools including a children’s water park area, and luxurious rooms with a large balcony or terrace. They also have access to all of the resort amenities from the rest of the resort.
